Two Stories of French Manicure

Recently, French manicure became popular unbelievably fast all over the world. There are two versions of how it appeared in this world.

1. French manicure appeared in France. They claim, that French designers created it for the models, which had to change a lot during the runway shows. Thus, they wanted to have something that will go with different outfits. “French” meets all this requirements.

2. In about middle of 1970th, Hollywood producers being overwhelmed by controlling divas looks, makeup and nail designs, they contacted “Orly” company representative Jeff Pink. Actresses who often were shooting in several movies, had to change their appearances quite often, so universal manicure designs were highly demanded. And in 1976 Jeff Pink offered his wonderful and simple creation. He just improved traditional European style manicure, and use France to name his manicure as a good marketing idea.

So far, these two stories can be considered as truth.

Of course, do not forget to use a nail dryer to quick dry and protect your beautiful french manicures.

If you want to save your money and at the same time want to have a proper manicure step by step, here is the article that can help you. You can easily attain a professional appearing manicure by yourself.

Prepare your nails
  • Trim your nails to the desired length using a nail cutter.
  • Smooth the edges of each nail using a nail file. File the nail tips to any of the preferred shape, such as square, oval or round.
  • Take some water in a medium sized bowl and soak all your fingers to remove any nail residue that arises from filing the nails. By doing so, even the nail cuticles become soft. Put the fingers for about 5 minutes and then dry the hands using a towel.
  • Take a drop of cuticle remover on the nail base and massage so as to loosen the nail cuticle. Using an orange stick, push back the cuticle to loosen the dead skin. With the help of cuticle trimmer, trim the loose nail cuticles.
  • Wash your nails and hands using soap and water. Dry the hands properly and then massage the hands and nails with lotion.

Polish your nails
  • Firstly, you should polish the nails with base coat. This is used as a primer and helps the nail color stay for longer time and even strengthens the nails.
  • Now apply the primary coat of nail polish. Apply a stroke from the center of the nail base to the nail tip. Paint the either sides to complete the primary coat. Repeat the same to the other nails.
  • Wrap cotton to the orange stick and dip it in a nail polish remover. Using the soaked cotton wrapped stick, clean the polish around the nail and under the nail tip.
  • Apply the second coat in the same manner as you have applied the primary coat. By applying another coat, the nails shine and the color lasts longer.
  • Allow the nails to dry in air for about half an hour. You can even use a nail dryer spray for the polish to dry faster.

Natural-looking Nails with Gel Nails

Gel nails system is form artificial nails. Gel nails fall under two types. The first type is the "light cured" gel. This gel is made by mixing monomers and polymers. In this process, the gel nails are mounted on either the tip or edges of the natural nails with the use of ultra violet light. The other type is the "no light gel". Unlike the "light cured" gel, this method does not require the use of an ultra violet light. However, the nails should be dipped in the water for a few minutes after the application.

When applying gel nails, the shine of the natural nails should be first removed. Then, using a buffer, the gel should then be sculpted with the edges of the natural nails. The application of the adhesive on the gel nail will be done next. The gel will then be placed on the outer tip of the real nail. After that, a stroke of a bonding agent should be spread to the nail. Then, a drop of acrylic powder mixture is applied on each nail. Exposure under a UV light is of course among the steps.

As compared to acrylic nails, gel nails contain a stronger composition. On the contrary, the results are not as durable as that of acrylic nails. In addition, gel nails can offer a more natural appearance. It can give the closest resemblance to the natural nails. This kind of artificial nail system is also non-porous. The application of nail polish over gel nails is also easy. However, a good gel nail product is needed to maximize the result.
